Getting Around In Anvil CRM

How can you find your way when you don’t have a map? Let’s take a look at some landmarks in Anvil CRM.

The Home Page

When logging in to Anvil CRM, your first stop is the Home page, which looks something like this:

There’s a lot to see here, so let’s break it down:

The Header

The top window section, called the Header, contains the Global Search bar, the App Launcher, a set of tabs for the different Anvil objects like Accounts, and a set of productivity tools.

The Global Search Bar

The Global Search bar enables you to search for any record or item in the database. Since your initial search may return too many results, you can narrow your search by using the tips provided in the app:

Or, from the drop-down menu, you can select an area to search within, like Purchase Orders:

The App Launcher

The App Launcher enables you to move to different workspace applications. Click it to see which apps are available to you.

Note: Depending on which Anvil app you’re working in and how your org has been configured, things may look a little different than shown here.

The Tabs (aka Objects

Tabs represent the different database objects where Anvil stores records, organizes and optimizes your work, enables you to perform object-related tasks, manages your day, and communicates with your team. Click on each tab to look around and explore your customer records under Accounts, Requests, Dealer Stock Units, and more!

The Productivity Icons

On the right-hand side of the window is a set of icons. From here you can add or edit your Favorites, access Global Actions like Quick Prospect, access Salesforce Help resources, review your Anvil notifications, and modify your profile settings.

The Dashboard

Just below the tabs is the Home page dashboard. Dashboards are a quick and visual way to see key metrics. Each dashboard component is tied to a report. Click on the View Report link to open the underlying report.

The dashboard report opens in the Reports tab.

To navigate back to the Home page, click the Home tab.

Recent Records

Just below the Home page dashboard is a list of items—quotes, dashboards, reports, equipment, and so on—that you recently accessed. This list makes it easy to navigate back to an item you previously closed. Click View All to see the last 20 recent records.

Tasks View

Just to the right of the Recent Records panel is the Tasks view. Open individual tasks, filter the view, or view all your tasks by clicking the View All link at the bottom of the panel.

Chatter

The Chatter panel to the right of the Tasks view is a great place to communicate with your colleagues right inside the app! Chatter is available from just about anywhere in Anvil. You can also access Chatter via the Chatter tab.

The Utility Bar

At the base of the main window you might see the Recent Items and Notes utilities, which are available from any window within Anvil.

Important: The utilities are only available from the desktop, not from mobile devices.

Recent Items is similar to Recent Records on the Home page, but it shows only the last five recently accessed items.

The Notes utility enables you to review your notes history and to write new notes, either for yourself or to share with other users. Unlike Chatter, notes are private unless you choose to share them with other people or groups. You can also add them to records within Anvil, like an Account.
